Nonfiction Forms

We usually get many questions regarding book projects. If the student does 4 projects in a quarter, he/she will have two 100’s averaged into his/her reading grade; 3 projects – two 85’s are averaged in; 2 projects – two 75’s; 1 project- two 65's; and 0 projects – two 0’s. Averaging zeros into a grade usually lowers it by at least one whole letter grade. We ask that the students try not to share more than 2 projects at a time. However, we realize there will be times when it is necessary for them to do more than that. We will be sending home a chart with the sixteen different types of books that need to be completed over the year and also project ideas. In order to receive an A every quarter, all 16 categories and 16 different projects will need to be completed by the end of the year.

Each category is to be done only once per year. Student’s grades are determined by the number of books that are read quarterly: 4 books=A; 3 books=B; 2 books=C; 1 book =D; 0 books=F.

AR Tests - Students need to take at least 8 AR tests per year. These tests can be in place of an activity. They must still write up the Book Project form for the book and they must pass the AR test with at least a 60 % in order for it to count as a completed project.

The AR Tests can be taken between 8:00 AM & 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  To reach AR click on this link:   AR TEST
