4/5 Multiage Tips on How to Study for a Quiz

  1. Turn the facts into questions…. Such as ~ Who won the right to vote in 1870? Who won Maine’s electoral votes? How many electoral votes does Maine have?
  2. Have someone in your family or a friend ask you questions
  3. Make a game of studying with friends or family
  4. Ask someone to write you questions for you to answer
  5. Studying by yourself ~ cover up part of the fact and quiz yourself
  6. Make your own written quiz and then answer it after with the answers put away
  7. Take index cards and make flash cards with question on one side & answers on the other
  8. Reread the facts
  9. Rewrite the facts in a shorter form AGAIN
  10. Reread the facts out loud

DIFFERENT WAYS OUR PAST STUDENTS TOLD US THEY STUDIED FOR THE SOCIAL STUDIES TEST

IN A QUIET PLACE:

1. Mom asked student questions from the practice test many times a day for several days.
2. Read over the practice test five times. Mom asked student questions, and student wrote out answers.
3. Student competed in a game with a brother to see who knew the most answers from the practice test. Mom judged the game.
4. Mom made a practice test. Student took the test, and Mom corrected it.
5. Student highlighted the details on the practice test which were the most difficult to remember or learn. Then student made flashcards about those details and studied the flashcards.
6. Student read the practice test out loud to himself/herself.
7. Student quizzed himself/herself from the practice test by covering the answers.
8. Student read the practice test backwards, starting with the last fact and finishing with the beginning.
9. Student created a chain of facts from the practice test and put the chain together like a bracelet.
